Fast Breaks:The Vince Carter Story
The book Fast Breaks:The Vince Carter Story by Doug Smith is jam-packed with awesome facts and eight crazy photos of Carter in action. This book is for all basketball and Carter fans because it talks about Carter's struggles and accomplishments throughout his NBA career.I really enjoyed this book becuse it has everything you need to know about Vince Carter,up to how many contests he has won like the famous Slam Dunk Contest when he shocked everyone with three outstanding dunks and where he got the nickname Halfman-Halfamazing.I really admired Vince after reading this book because he's a good player, and he loves his family and friends.I really recommend this book to all basketball fans out there.

great stuff
This was a great book for any Vince Carter fan. It was extremely easy reading and I enjoyed greatly. Great pictures for those who do not enjoy reading. High flying fun.

inVINCEible
I think the Vince Carter story is a very cool book, because I learned a lot about my favorite player. Also, there are lots of good pictures of him. I never really like to read before, but this book motivated me to pick up a book, and start reading. I would have a good review for this book, because it was easy to read for my grade level. However, any person who loves Vince Carter (like a fan, of course) would definitely love The Vince Carter Story. I myself enjoyed it very much, because of its informational content and facinating photos of Vince's dunks.

Working For A Loser!!!!
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Alotta Edu Inc (01 August, 1998)
Author: Claude B. Carter
Average review score:

Incredibly funny and truly enlighting. Highly recommended.
I really, really loved this book. It's one of the few times that I can recall having laughed out loud at a book. I am a boss now. I am an entrepreneur and I run my own company. I think the main reason that I am a boss today is that I used to work for folks like some of the clowns that are described so clearly in this book. So I guess I have to thank all these bad bosses for helping me get to where I am today.

One thing that I found about the book that was useful to me was that it contains a lot of valuable workplace humor. As a small business man I am also my company's chief salesperson. Humor is a great ice breaker at sales presentations. And I found that this book contained a great wealth of material that could be used in that fashion.

It also helps me within my own office. I once heard that you can learn from anyone, even a fool--if only how not to be one. In that sense this book was a great learning experience. It helps you to think about how others view your actions and reminds you to always think about the position of the people that work for you.

But obviously I don't just think Working for a Loser is only a book for bosses. It's a great book for anyone who participates in the American workplace. I found the stories wonderful, funny and at times profoundly insightful. But more than anything its funny. There is nothing like laughter and this book produces plenty of it. I strongly encourage you to read it. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Hats off to Claude Carter. He has really produced a winner.

Outstanding!
What a hoot! Anyone who has worked for a loser before can relate to this. The book makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time!!!

Especially funny because its true
Claude Carter's book is really funny. The fact that these are true stories makes it even more humorous. I laughed out loud many times and found myself reading passages to friends and co-workers using an introduction of "Do you believe this?", all the time.

The fact that I am a manager to some also made it valuable as a how no to guide to leadership. This is a unique, funny, and different book that was a fast read. I recommend it highly.

The Authoritative Book on Acoustic Guitars
George Gruhn is not only the best know dealer of collectible instruments in the US, he's also an absolute fount of information and a heck of a nice guy, too. Each of his books is *the* authoritative source of information on the guitars featured inside.

If you're a collector, you need this book. If you'd like to be a collector, you need it even more. And if like most of us, you just love looking at beautiful pictures of guitars, you need it even more.

Acoustic Guitars and other Fine Fretted Instruments
This is one of the best books on Acoustic Guitars for the collector or anyone that has a passion for vintage guitars. Great pictures and detailed discussion.

America's garden book
Published in Unknown Binding by ()
Authors: Louise Carter Bush-Brown and James Bush-Brown
Average review score:

Timeless Garden Classic...
I have used this book for years as my gardening bible. I have an edition with a foreward signed by James Bush-Brown and Louise Bush-Brown in Ambler Pennsylvania, September 1957. I'm glad to see the book has been updated, but what amazes me is that the older version is still so useful. Just this morning I looked up 'Hyssop' because I planted one in the back of my herb bed. The entry read, "P; 18-24" Seed: medicine, perfume, food -- Sunny; ordinary garden soil, not too rich. Prefers lime." This entry (in Chapter IX, The Herb Garden) told me the plant was a pernnial, would not overshadow my other plants, and would grow well in my herb garden which is laced with lime.

This book is succinct, useful, and too heavy to carry to bed for nighttime reading.

Everything about gardening in a single volume
If I were stranded in a strange garden and could pick only one gardening book to take along, this would be the one. It's loaded with detailed information on all aspects of gardening, including photos and suggestions of exactly which species and varieties will work best in which situations. This is such a comprehensive effort that it's now possible to whittle your gardening library down to one volume and still be able to look up an answer to whatever question's bugging you.

And Thou Shalt Honor: The Caregiver's Companion
Published in Hardcover by Rodale Press (September, 2002)
Authors: Beth Witrogen McLeod and Rosalynn Carter

WHEN THE TIME COMES
This book is absolutely necessary when the time comes to think about your parents, and their aging, and what to do just in case.
How do I approach this w/ my parents? or , what child will be responsible for the arrangements?, or, why me?

This book takes you thru the difficult questions, situations (especially w/ other siblings) and any thing else one WILL come across when deciding elder=care and how it applies to YOUR PARENTS. Don't forget the video companion. Beatiful ...

What an amazing guide!
Considering that caregiving responsibilities will impact every single person at some point in their life, this is the resource guide to own!! It truly is a "Caregiver's Companion" and a must-have for every caregiver. When the baby-boomers become aged (and it's starting to happen), a huge percentage of the population will require caregiving. This book gives resources and checklists, along with anecdotal stories from the people in the trenches. What a great book. I highly recommend this as a gift for you, your family, your friends - ANYONE who has to deal with the complexities of caregiving. Bravo!

The Art of Illumination
Published in Paperback by Midpoint Trade Books, Inc. (January, 1999)
Author: Patricia Carter
Average review score:

Beautiful!
I love this book! It has tips for layout, as well as step by step instructions for building an illustrated letter. I also like how it shows several different styles of illumination.

AWESOME! One of the best books I ever bought!
Although [the price] seems hefty for a paperback book, you won't think that after seeing it. It is filled with color photos and helpful diagrams of the incredibly beautiful, complete with step-by-step directions to almost ensure success. Best of all, it is helpful for many other arts as well, since the information about coloring, centering, decorating letters, composing a monogram, etc. can be applied just as well to numerous other arts. I really love this book; it is unbelievably gorgeous and inspiring, with such great directions that even I should be able to do this successfully. Even if you're not a calligrapher, this will greatly help you should you decide to give it a try -- and will also help even if you use computer fonts, just want to frame and display treasured quotes or invitations, etc. I have nothing to do with the author, publisher, or anyone involved with this book ... I just took a chance and ordered it, and am thrilled beyond words with it. HIGHEST possible recommendation.

The Art Of Theorem Painting: A History and Complete Instruct
I am a theorem painter, and I found this book to be very helpful in learning the history of theorem painting and also seeing pictures of antique theorems. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in theorems, whether you are a theorem painter or a collector of theorems. The book also includes patterns for those who wish to cut their own stencils. I know that this book is hard to obtain, but if you get a chance to purchase it, I know that you won't regret it.

Thank you -- excellant
Since I was a self taught theorem painter and was very hungry for history of this art. I was pleased to see the work done by the authors. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in doing theorems. I especially enjoyed the work they did on the history of this art. I am the only theorem painter in a 200 mile radius of my home. To find a book about it was exciting.

Beds and Borders (Garden Project Workbooks)
Published in Hardcover by Stewart, Tabori & Chang (April, 1998)
Authors: Richard Bird, Stephen Robson, and George Carter
Average review score:

Beautiful Presentation, Great Ideas
As a novice gardener, I have found many instructional books to be overwhelming; their scope is often too wide for my purposes. The Garden Project Workbook Series, however, provides clear instructions for a variety of creative yet practical designs.

With help from "Beds and Borders" I was able to implement my own design for a small border in my tiny front yard, a step that I would not have been able to accomplish on my own.

All of the books in this series are topical and very worthwhile. I highly recommend them.

Easy to follow instructions for beginning gardners.
This is a good book for the beginning gardner in need of ideas for planting a garden. It illustrates 21 planting schemes and provides brief how-to-do guidelines. Generally included in the instructions are: the latin name of all plants needed and he number of plants needed; special tools and equipment when indicated; designing, spacing, and planting the bed; care and maintenance as well as alternative planting schemes.

Big Book of Corporate Identity Design
Published in Hardcover by HBI (May, 2001)
Author: David E. Carter
Average review score:

Inspiring..
This book is the best of a series of "the big book of.." by David E. Carter.
With its hefty selection of works to see and be inspired from, With clear sections and a selectiveness uncharacteristical of carter, this book can be used over and over again, and you can always find something new in it.
It is also of great value. If Graphis ( a high-end graphic design publisher) was to publish such a volume, you can bet the price will be over a hundred dollars.
In short, every designer needs this book.

When they said "BIG", they meant it.
This book's title is honest: it is really BIG. The Book is filled with full color contemporary samples of world's best graphic identity programs. The design projects showcased here are not only a huge source of inspiration, but a smart reference of how things are done in the real world of visual communication. The book shows all identity categories: from logos to brochures; from fleet graphics to outdoors; from annual reports to business cards. This publication is a must-have piece of work.
